Company Overview

Silvercorp Metals Inc. (NYSE American / TSX: SVM) is a Canadian silver mining company with long-standing producing operations in China (Ying Mining District and GC Mine) and a growing international portfolio that includes the El Domo copper-gold project in Ecuador and the recent acquisition of Chaarat ZAAV in Kyrgyzstan. In the first quarter of Fiscal 2027 (ended June 30, 2026) the company produced approximately 1.5 million ounces of silver and 2,536 ounces of gold (about 1.7 million silver-equivalent ounces), generated revenue of US$138.7 million (up 70% year-over-year on higher realized silver prices), operating cash flow of US$61.7 million and free cash flow of US$28.6 million. Cash and short-term investments stood at US$387.1 million. Production was affected from mid-June by a temporary suspension to implement “Six Major Safety Systems” underground upgrades required under new Chinese regulations; Q2 Fiscal 2027 production is expected to be 40–50% of the original plan. Fiscal 2027 guidance (prior to the full impact of the suspension) targeted consolidated ore processing of approximately 1.53–1.61 million tonnes and Ying silver production of 6.4–6.6 million ounces. Construction of a new 3,000 tpd No. 3 mill at Ying has begun, with commissioning targeted for the first quarter of Fiscal 2028. El Domo remains on track for commissioning around July 2027.

Investment Thesis

Silvercorp offers exposure to a cash-flowing Chinese silver producer with a strong treasury, expansion at Ying, and a diversifying international growth pipeline (El Domo and Kyrgyzstan). High silver prices have driven strong revenue and free-cash-flow generation. Key risks include the duration and impact of the China safety-system upgrades, Chinese regulatory and jurisdictional risk, grade and cost performance, and execution risk on the Ecuador and Kyrgyzstan projects. Relative to pure explorers, SVM ranks lower risk as an established producer with a large cash position; residual single-country concentration (China) and near-term production disruption remain material.
